Bundles
Offer another product at a discount when a customer is checking out.
Overview
Bundles let you upsell one product while a customer is buying another. When somebody reaches the checkout page for a package, any bundles you have configured are shown as optional extras, each at a discount you set. If the customer adds one, both products are purchased in a single checkout and they receive a license for each.
Note: If you do not see "Bundles", please contact support.
Creating a bundle
- Click the "Bundles" tab for the package you want to sell the upsell from.
- Click "New bundle".
- Choose the product and plan to offer, then configure the discount.
Bundle options
Each bundle has the following set of options:
- Product to offer: The package to upsell. Only packages with a plan on sale in the same currency can be bundled.
- Plan to offer: The release channel the customer receives if they take the offer.
- Show on plan: Limit the offer to a single plan, or leave it as "Any plan" to show it no matter which plan the customer selects.
- Discount type: Take a percentage off the plan's price, or a fixed amount.
- Discount amount: The percentage or amount to deduct.
- Headline: The text shown above the offer at checkout. Defaults to the product name.
- Description: A short explanation of the offer. Defaults to the package's description.
- Active: Whether the offer is currently shown at checkout.
You can reorder bundles by dragging them, which controls the order they appear in at checkout.
What customers see
Bundles appear on the checkout page underneath the plan picker, showing the plan's normal price struck through next to the bundle price, along with how much the customer saves. Selecting an offer adds it to the order summary and updates the total.
Nothing is added to the order unless the customer opts in.
Coupon codes
Bundle discounts are applied directly to the price of the upsold product rather than as a coupon, so customers can still redeem one of your coupon codes on an order that includes a bundle.
Bundling subscriptions
Bundles work with both one-time plans and subscriptions, in any combination.
If the plan you are offering is a subscription, the discounted price is what the customer pays on every renewal, not just the first year. A $20 per year plan offered at 50% off bills $10 per year for as long as the customer stays subscribed.
Adding a subscription to a one-time purchase turns the whole order into a subscription. The one-time product is charged once on the first invoice, and the subscription renews as normal after that. When an order contains anything that renews, the checkout summary splits the amount due today from the amount charged every year, so the customer can see both before paying.
Licenses and reporting
Each product in a bundled order is treated as its own sale:
- The customer receives a separate license for each package, on the plan configured for it
- Each package records its own transaction, so revenue is reported against the package it belongs to
- A license email is sent for each package purchased
